As of recent updates, our best-selling Pinatubo Daytour Botolan via Capas trail remains temporarily closed until further notice. However, thrill-seekers and outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the world-famous volcano still have an exciting alternative: the newly developed Inararo trail, accessible from Clark via a 4x4 ride that includes a sidetrip to Ana-an Falls.
Introducing the Inararo Trail: A Community-Based Tourism Development in Mt. Pinatubo
Inararo trail grand opening with United Kapampangan Influencers (UKI) and Ayta tour guides
Initiated in March 2022 by the Indigenous People Organization (IPO), the Inararo trail represents a significant collaborative effort involving various stakeholders. The project underwent multiple iterations and consultations within the Ancestral Domain, Barangay Inararo, and with both 4x4 Ayta and non-IP drivers and operators, and DOT-accredited tour operator and Civil Society Organization (CSO) Pinatubo Mountainero.

Funded by Barangay Inararo, the trail's development included clearing work carried out by Ayta guides who are members of the immediate community. They created a safe walking path, constructed bamboo bridges for river crossings, and facilitated the landscaping of the lahar trail road with Ayta-owned heavy equipment, making the route suitable for accredited off-road vehicles.
Trail Details and Hiking Experience
The Inararo trail offers a one-day hiking experience suitable for seasoned hikers but not recommended for beginners. The adventure involves:
- A 1 km hike from the 4x4 parking area to Ana-an Falls, featuring 3 waterfalls known for its cool waters and grandeur beauty.
- An additional 4.8 km trek leading to the summit of Mount Pinatubo, providing breathtaking views of the volcano crater and surrounding landscape.
- The journey begins with a comfortable, one-hour air-conditioned 4x4 ride from Clark hotels or SM Clark, making the trip accessible for visitors staying in Pampanga.
